DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Bouchet, Amsterdam, silver repoussé verge fusee, 52mm, silver pair cases, inner bearing London hallmarks possibly for 1746 though not fully distinct due to wear, casemaker's "R D" marking in cameo, outer with unusual image of a gaucho on horseback, white enamel dial, KWKS, verge escapement, square tapered baluster pillars, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled two-footed balance bridge, no visible s#.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, areas of abrasion and scratches; dial with scratch at 6, chip at 6 adjacent latch aperture; fine hands; outer case shows little wear, an attractive dark patina, some dings, good engraving detail, button latch good though case closing with some gap around much of its perimeter; case shows medium wear, scattered dents and dings located mostly around perimeter, protruding ding to rear caused by internal punchmark, bezel with split near hinge causing looseness of crystal which turns freely, bezel leaving gap to case body when closed around its upper approximately two-thirds, key aperture to rear is crude and somewhat asymmetrical, soldered repair of pendant junction visible internally; bow pivots freely and with some play to pendant; domed glass bull's-eye crystal with many scratches.
